Short Bio

Nicola is a Post-Doctoral researcher at IUSS Pavia and his main research activities concern modelling, analysis and strengthening of bridges. He graduated in Civil Engineering at University of Pavia in 2017, followed by a PhD in Understanding and Managing Extremes at IUSS Pavia in 2023. He has experience as a visiting researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, as teaching assistant for Bridge course at IUSS Pavia, and as lecturer of structural engineering at University of Pavia. He has received several scientific awards for contributions in the field of bridge engineering, among which the “Outstanding Paper Award” by IABSE and the prize for an innovative and impactful research project proposed by young researchers (“20 Anni ReLUIS”) by ReLUIS in 2023. He has experience in engineering consultancy, with collaborations that include: studies on the collapse of the Morandi bridge in Genoa (IT) and the evaluation of the structural performance of the second ring of the San Siro Meazza stadium in Milan (IT).
